Behind The Lens

Location

At the old Studio 212 in Metuchen, NJ. It was the home of regular glamour-photography workshops - and at the first workshop I attended, I met the model here (Sativa Verte), which led to a long professional relationship AND friendship.

Time

Probably afternoon.

Lighting

Couple of strobes with soft boxes, nothing fancy.

Equipment

Canon Rebel DSLR and a 24-70mm L-class zoom lens.

Inspiration

We were working on a potential DVD project, documenting a pinup/glamour photoshoot. I actually put together the outfit on my own, with the thought of "ya know, I've never done a 'brown'-themed costume before." Luckily, she liked it, and we had a lot of fun with her wearing it (and then NOT wearing it, nudge nudge wink wink say no MORE...).

Editing

My standard Photoshop post-production action, which begins with some smart sharpening before kicking in the Portraiture skin-smoothing plugin.

In my camera bag

DSLR (currently a Canon Model 6D), 50/85mm primes, 24-70mm and 70-200mm L-class zooms, Speedlight flash.

Feedback

It always helps to work with a model you've known for a while: know and respect each others' limits/boundaries, experiment, take suggestions from the model, and above all? HAVE FUN.
