During WW 2 Hitler saw a photograph of this building and wanted the building to be his headquarters in London. He sent out a directive to all flight crews stating that if this building was ever damaged in the air raids, the returning crews would be taken to 30,000 feet and thrown out of the aircraft with no parachute.
