In San Francisco, there are a series of colorful houses called The Painted Ladies. The reason why they’re so colorful along with other houses around the city is because during WWI and WWII all the buildings were painted grey. Soon one artist, Butch Kardum, got tired of it and painted his house with vibrant blues and greens. This lead to many other of the residents in the city painting their own houses with vivid colors.
