Behind The Lens

Location

St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney NSW

Time

After a long morning at work, I decided to go for a walk around the city during my lunch break with my camera and came across St James Cathedral. I had never thought to visit the church until this day and I have always been very intrigued by churches, so I decided to step foot inside and I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked. I cannot recall the date this was taken but it was in 2017 before Christmas.

Lighting

.

Equipment

I shot this photo using my Cannon EOS750D and at the time I only had my EFS 18-55MM Lens.

Inspiration

I really love walking into churches and when I finally got a camera on my birthday I got to capture it's beauty from the inside.

Editing

I generally love using natural light when taking photo. On the day, there wasn't a great deal of natural light shining into the church and so I only adjusted the lighting a little bit by using the exposure setting in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I generally take my Cannon EOS750D with my EFS 18-55MM and EF 50mm Lens when I only want to take everyday photos. When I am travelling (which is to too often) I will also take my Nikon P900.

Feedback

All churches are unique and in some, it may be hard to to capture a photo as there may be restrictions. However when you can capture that moment natural lighting always brings out the beauty of the building. You can always use Lightroom and Photoshop to adjust your photo to your liking.
