Behind The Lens

Location

We went on a special trip to Costa Rica, the last chance to get away before I started a new job. We chose the hotel because it is situated on a quiet beach. A hurricane arrived the same days as us, no one expected it not even the locals. Four days we were kept inside. The end of the storm we wondered down to the beach to see the damage caused by the storm. I don’t know if the tree was there before the storm but I like to think it came to rest in piece upon the beach

Time

This photo is one of my favourites because it summed up the rough ride I had been through over the last few years. The photo was taken around tea time as the rain stopped and the weather started to improve

Lighting

I wanted to capture the end of the hurricanes and quieten of nature, the rain had just stopped and wind had died down, it had been so dark and the light was returning.

Equipment

The shot was taken on my I phone 6. Nothing technically fancy.

Inspiration

I simply felt that moment mirrored how I felt, I wanted to capture the drama and the transition to the gentle rhythm of life.

Editing

No, I wish I could be clever enough!

In my camera bag

Always my phone, I use my phone to capture my memories

Feedback

Costa Rica is the most beautiful place, It’s a place you reconnect to nature, although hurricanes are not normal and are rare. It’s the only place I have been where the entire culture is based in conservation.
