Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the glorious Stanbrook Abbey in Malvern Worcestershire, where me and my wife shared our 1st wedding anniversary.

Time

This was taken early evening probably about 5-6 o’clock while we were exploring the grounds

Lighting

All natural lighting it was a bit of a snap shot as I loved the light coming through the one side of the corridor and the Seemingly endless Repetition of the patterns in to the background

Equipment

This was most likely taken on an Olympus omd Mark 1 which I bought to replace my bulkier Canon Slrs (I have since gone back to full frame canons, they just feel like family). It was a handheld shot that needed taking!

Inspiration

I wasn’t looking for anything in particular with the shot I just happened to have my camera with me when the Opportunity arose Just in the right place in the right time really.

Editing

A simple black and white post process in photoshop with some dodge and burning and contrast adjustments was all this has and needed in my mind, I prefer to get most of the work done in camera generally without too much heavy post processing

In my camera bag

Nowadays I use a cnanonn6d mark 2 generally with an original 5d to hand with 4 lenses ranging from 16- 200mm mainly L series lens. Intend to stick with 50mm prime lens for everyday opportunities unless I’ve got specific plans.

Feedback

I guess just keep your eyes open and don’t try too hard as there are opportunities everywhere that present themselves when you least expect it. Learn how to use your kit and you’ll be surprised how intuitively you get to the settings you need to capture your vision. But ultimately enjoy it!
