This is the 5 mile bridge over the Chesapeake Bay, in Maryland. Due to the distance, it is hard to notice that there are in fact two bridges: an older one (1952) East bound and a modern one (1973) West bound. This bridge used to boast the longest steel spans over salt water. It links the Baltimore-Annapolis-Washington region to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and is the gateway to the Atlantic Ocean beaches. On the day the photo was taken, the water was rather choppy.
