This photo was taking in my living room in front of our Christmas tree.Time
I believe this was taken in the afternoon, there was a lot of natural light coming in from the windows.Lighting
I wanted the LED lights she was holding, along with the lights on the tree behind her to be out of focus, so I used my 85mm with aperture set at 1.2.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark lll, Canon 85mm 1.2, no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I have a tradition with my daughter to take a photo of her in front of the tree with LED lights each holiday.Editing
Yes, I start out with adjustments in ACR and then move into Photoshop for more detailed editing of the skin and facial features.In my camera bag
Canon 85mm 1.2 along Canon 16-35mm 2.8 give me a good range to shoot with. If I plan on a more artistic take, I will pack my Meyer Optik Goerlitz lenses (Trimagon 2.6/95 portrait lens and the Trioplan 50mm).Feedback
Shoot wide open with spot metering on your subject. Have the lights either in front or behind the plane of focus for similar bokeh effect in this photo.
