Behind The Lens

Location

This is from the Beamish Museum in Co. Durham; which is ever evolving and currently spread over 3 square miles. All of the buildings, trams, railways and even cobbles for the streets have all been taken from the local area and used to recreate 'different times' in the region's vast history. This scene is from a Co-operative store; the outside of which is from a village called Annfield Plain and where an Aunt worked for many years; and the interior is actually from the village I grew up in; Craghead; so brings back many memories of my own childhood.

Time

This was taken on a trip with my young Grand children who had only ever seen things like this on TV.

Lighting

The building still uses low wattage light bulbs, in keeping with the era, but the shot was taken hand-held with a fast shutter speed.

Equipment

Canon EOS 400D

Inspiration

Living close by we try to visit every year, as things keep getting added ...... and this particular day all of the staff were dressed in period gear; which felt like an added 'snapshot in time.'

Editing

As always I use Adobe Photo-Shop Elements #12 on an aging Asus laptop.

In my camera bag

This was taken with an earlier Canon, but these days I've moved onto a Fuji X-Pro 1 and a couple of Canon EOS 1200's (all second-hand!)

Feedback

Places like this are fabulous for capturing 'different things' and also things that need preserving and sharing.
