Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my family owned nursery when I first started to appreciate the finer, more beautiful things in life. To this days, it’s one of my favourite that I’ve taken.

Time

I remember taking this photo in the hot Australian summer sun on a boiling Sunday, whilst probably getting sunburnt at the same time, just to get the right angle and sun exposure. Believe it or not, I took this on my phone as back then, I didn’t own a good quality camera yet.

Lighting

Most of the lighting is completely natural because in Australia, we have some of the most beautiful lighting opportunities when taking landscapes photographs.

Equipment

This was simply shot in an iPhone 5s. No fancy camera, tripod, or flash.

Inspiration

I was just in the nursery looking at the plants when I saw this unique and beautiful flower that I just knew would be the perfect photo opportunity.

Editing

I use a photo editing on my phone to just add a bit more exposure and sometimes light filters if the photograph is too dark.

In my camera bag

I don’t go out with my camera as much as I would like, as it is more of a hobby in my spare time, but nowadays, I take with me my Nikon D5600, my lensball, a back up battery and memory card of course, and sometimes a tripod.

Feedback

There’s always something unique in the most simplistic things in life. Even though others may have photographed it millions of time, there’s always a different angle, exposure, concept or meaning behind your own photograph. So just look for something that you find interesting and go from there.
