Behind The Lens

Location

This pic was taken near a village just South of Bristol, UK, called Chew Magna,

Time

If I remember rightly it was taken late morning around 11am on a cold November morning.

Lighting

Nope. Just experimented with what was there at the time.

Equipment

Shot with a Canon 5dmkii, a 16-36mm lens, a tripod, a Lee big stopper and a grad filter. Can't remember what grade.

Inspiration

I was living in Bristol at the time. I wanted to explore the local area and wanted to find some waterfalls. I did a google search and happened across this site on a walking blog. I packed up my gear and took a drive. Parked up at the church in the village and took the short stroll to the glade it is located in. I was quite new to the long exposure game so I just set up and and spent time experimenting with different angles and locations. This was one of my favourite pics of the day.

Editing

I used the grad filter in lightroom to knock out some of the highlights in the sky in background. Added some exposure. Brought up the shadows a little and knocked off some main highlights added some contrast and then shifted the dynamics to give it some depth. Reduced the noise a little and added some sharpness.

In my camera bag

The aforementioned and some cleaning equipment, extra batteries and a velometer. If thats how you spell it.

Feedback

Just work on framing. Interesting angles and experiment I guess.
