Alexandria is a 24 year old cancer patient undergoing intense chemotherapy. Chemotherapy in and of itself is grueling, and in a culture where women are often judged by superficial standards of beauty, hair loss can add emotional pain to the intense physical cost of chemotherapy. Alex agreed to be photographed with this temporary henna tattoo to celebrate her baldness, her struggles and their pain, and her otherwise private struggle concealed beneath wigs and hats.
