Location
This photo was taken on the Indian River in Titusville where Bobby and I stay twice every winter to photograph the birds at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Hurricane Erma destroyed this pier in 2017.Time
This photo was taken at sunrise. The moon in the photo was taken during a full moon a couple of years ago at night.Lighting
It was just before sunrise so there was little light.Equipment
I used my 35mm Sony lens on my Sony 7Rll, tripod with a ball head. No flash. ISO 100, 1/13 second shutter speed, F22.Inspiration
I made this photo for a scavenger hunt in 2016. I made Bobby hold up his arms to greet the sun as it came up. But I turned it into a B&W photo and added the moon for the moon challenge. I had always wanted to take one of those photos where it looks like someone is holding something that is an illusion.Editing
Yes, this photo was heavily processed. First in Lr, then I turned it to B&W in Nik Silver EFX Pro, and finally added the moon in Smart Photo Editor using "Composite".In my camera bag
I usually travel with 2 bodies. On one camera I always have a long lens as I am primarily a wildlife photographer, on the other body I will have a different lens depending on what else I am shooting. Besides the long lens, I usually have a couple of primes (a fisheye, macro , 35mm) and my travel zoom in my bag.Feedback
Don't be afraid to have fun with composites. Think outside the box. I mostly use Smart Photo Editor for my composites but will use Photoshop sometimes.
