I took this on my 15th birthday during my photography class behind the Katonah Art Center, in the woods. It was a very chilly and cloudy.Time
Lets see, this was a while ago, but I would guess I took these around 3-4 p.m. in the afternoon.Lighting
I definitely wanted to have some moody, but even lighting, to make it easier to work with in Photoshop. The overcast worked perfectly for this!Equipment
I shot this on a Nikon D3300 with a 50mm Nikkor lens. I used an Amazon Basics Tripod, and a trigger button to take the photos remotely.Inspiration
I had a vision of myself grabbing my hands over my face. Then I started to think of double exposures and edits in this realm. I looked for inspiration on Pinterest, and then I just kinda went for it!Editing
Yes! This image was created in Photoshop from 2 photos (one of just my face, and the other with my hands completely over my face), and merged them together. I really just played around with blending the layers, til I got my desired look.In my camera bag
I always bring more gear than I need, just in case! I always have a macro and zoom lens, a flash, a remote trigger, an external pocket light that changes colors, a light prism, an SD card or 2, and a LOT of extra batteries!Feedback
I would recommend trying to take some photos of you or someone else, and then for a second photo, add something in front of them, whether that be a flower, or in my case, hands! Just be careful to not move the model too much, or it might be harder to get the double exposure to look seamless.
