Gelada monkeys, also known as bleeding heart monkeys because of the distinctive red marking on their chests, are only found in the high mountains of Ethiopia. I spent a week trekking in the wilderness of Simien Mountains National Park looking for geladas; I photographed this one on the rim of a stunning gorge at twilight. I used flash at low power to gently illuminate the monkey under stormy skies. Canon 5DIV, Tamron 24-70mm f-2.8 lens, flash, ISO 200, f-2.8, 1-100 second.
