Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in a tub of water from home. Water literally went EVERYWHERE!

Time

I remember doing a whole photoshoot all day then when I got home I wanted to do more distorted photos and I came up with this. Still doing photoshoots - photo was taken late at night.

Lighting

I wanted the water to distort the model’s face. I need to use harsh lighting to create lots of shadow to add to the distorted effect.

Equipment

This was actually taken on my Fuji Film camera. No tripod just my hands. The flash was used. Water was needed.

Inspiration

Couple of things actually. Perhaps the most inspiring thought was wanting to change perspective of people and view that people aren’t what they are inside. The distorted face resembles the strange outside but the water reflects the purity of the person inside. As the saying goes, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”.

Editing

Yes actually. I wanted to think and look into the inspired thought of not judging a book by its cover, and I wanted to go more deeper in that and that’s why I do have more photos mirroring this thought.

In my camera bag

My bag is filled with everything! From makeup to lenses to wires to small things such as a hair grip.

Feedback

To make it easier for others make sure there is small light so it easier to see then use a harsh light and make sure to have the water move to get it over the model’s face and body, perhaps splash something in might be easy.
