Location
I took this photo in Italy during my holiday in Tuscany. They just had little kittens in the guesthouse where I stayed.Time
I took this photo in the morning after breakfast, around 9 o'clock.Lighting
In the morning there was high continuous cloud cover without direct sunlight. This added enough diffused light to the scene. Therefore, there are no significant reflections on the fur and the colors are natural. And there were no contrasting shadows either.Equipment
Back then I was working with my excellent DSLR camera Nikon D850 and the perfect zoom lens Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR. I shot handheld, without a tripod, without a flash.Inspiration
I am a veterinarian by profession and I love pets and I also like to photograph them.Editing
I love natural photos. Realistic shots without big adjustments. I try to capture all my photos so I do not have to use the massive post-processing. I know it is very modern and trendy today, but I do not work with PS or LR or other editing software. I invoke my NEF only in original Nikon Studio NX or Nikon Capture and make only minor edits. Maybe my photos could be even more attractive, but I want to show real reality. In my camera bag
The contents of my robust Tamrac bag are primarily a powerful Nikon digital camera that I can rely on in any weather. Not long ago I normally used a camera Nikon D6 and a backup camera Nikon D850. I normally use the Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 lenses. These "workers" are always with me. For wild animals and birds photography I need to pack "heavier weight" - now I'm using the zoom-lens Nikkor 180-400 f/4 (with TC 1.4x) and fast lenses Nikkor 300 f/2.8 and Nikkor 200 f/2. But in recent years I've been gradually upgrading to Nikon mirrorless Z cameras and the corresponding Z lenses. Currently it's the camera Z9 and Z7ii plus the lenses Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8, Nikon Z 70-200 f/2.8 and Z 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 .Feedback
I prefer taking photos outside the interior of buildings, preferably in optimal lighting conditions without direct sunlight and without flash. When photographing pets, I try to capture their natural, unrigged expression during their normal activity. And I always try to be with my lens at least at the level of the animal's eyes, or even better directly from the ground from a "frog" perspective.
