An Anna's Hummingbird eagerly feeds from the first flowering plants brought forth by the earliest of the winter storms. Anna's Hummingbirds remain on the Northern California coast during the winter while nectar is scarce, surviving largely on tiny insects and tree sap. Treats like this will be scarce until the wildflowers bloom en masse next year.
