The Northern Cape of South Africa is a dry, arid place, bordering on the arid, dry south of Namibia, and it is in this band of beauty that the Quiver Tree naturally occurs. While the individual trees aren't necessarily very old, collectively they convey the appearance of great age and you can't help but "feel" an air of solemnity when around them. This is still one of my favourite photo-shoots ever.
