Lepus Timidus - The Mountain Hare going through its moult into its winter coat of white., with only the ear tips staying black. The Hare is native to Scotland unlike the Brown Hare which was introduced by the Celts around the iron age. It does not always snow in the highland Hills and this leaves the Hares vulnerable to attack by ther predators.
