Location
I took this photo at the University of St Andrews athletic union.Time
This was taken about 4pm as the sun was setting behind us, over the back of the rugby pitch.Lighting
The lighting is all natural. It was evening, in Scotland during Autumn. This produced such a beautiful atmosphere, and prolonged the shadows. The colour version of this photo is also just as magical because of the lighting, with vibrant oranges and yellows.Equipment
This photo was shot with Canon EOS Rebel T5, with standard 18-55 mm lense.Inspiration
I was organising a charity naked calendar for the universities sports societies. The women's rugby club showed great team pride and left it all on the field for charity. They were great girls to work with and followed direction really well. We followed this with a few used shots, and one of my other favourites actually had the girls arms round each other whilst they watched their club president take a goal kick.Editing
The majority of the processing was done in adobe Lightroom. The natural lighting was so good, that the most significant editing was the colour in order to produce the black and white theme to fit with the theme of the calendar. This was done to add a more classic feel to the photograph. In my camera bag
I don't tend to carry too much kit with me. I usually have a couple of spare lenses, 75-300mm and my trusty fisheye. However, I do prefer the shorter lense. I love portrait photography the most and any photography involving people and creativity. I don't often pose my photos as I think they look so much better when you're catching the moment, even with photos such as this one. Originally this wasn't planned, the girls were just happy supporting a good cause and chatting.Feedback
I would definitely just say, relax, have fun and don't try to force anything. The more natural the experience the more comfortable the people involved. I would also just mix things up, be ready to capture the moments the people involved feel most comfortable in and don't always expect the posed, sometimes forced situations to be the best. Thats not to say that is always the case, however, in my experience, it tends to be true. Finally I would say be prepared to be flexible, if you are doing a naked shoot outdoors, expect the public to be very interested. Whilst sometimes the weather can also have a very big impact.
