I took this photograph while watching the sunrise at my local beach, 'Salties'. There was just something soul enriching about this experience. I focused on the flag, as I felt in the midst of the unsettling beauty of the crashing waves and shifting sunlight... it was disregarded. Yet the flag held so much meaning... safety, comfort and humanity. It was constant, frozen in time and unnatural... juxtaposing all of its surroundings.
