I took this photo in my makeshift studio at my house.Time
I was working late into the night and this had been my sixth or seventh attempt at this image. I'd say it was time in the early morning.Lighting
I wanted this image to have strong contrast and be somewhat dramatic so i used hot lights with no filter or diffusing device.Equipment
My camera had broken previously so I actually borrowed a friends Nikon D3300 to start my semester of school. I also used Impact hot lights and a tripod.Inspiration
I was inspired by eras like the earlier 1900's and the 1920's. I was also inspired by the supernatural; I wanted this image to feel like a portrait of a ghost.Editing
This photo is actually a composite of three images: the top hat, the mask, and the lush fabric background. I used Photoshop to bring them together for the final image. I had tried to do this as one image but it was just impossible for me to achieve on my own.In my camera bag
Well my camera obviously. I also take my tripod and monopod when I go to certain locations. I use a remote shutter as well and I use multiple memory cards.Feedback
I would say skills in Photoshop are a must for composite imagery to look seamless. Creativity is another requirement. Just have fun and experiment!
