Behind The Lens

Location

Fota House and Gardens in Cork.

Time

Early afternoon.

Lighting

Just pure natural light with the use of a white reflector on the models knee to soften shadows on her face.

Equipment

Canon 7d, 70-200mm f/2.8 lens

Inspiration

I was motivated to win Irish Photographer of Year(whichI won!)so I had to come up with an image that caught the judges eye and created imapct.

Editing

I used the Iris Filter in PS to make the depth of field more shallow.

In my camera bag

All canon gear, Canon 7d, Canon 17-40mm, 50mm, 70-200mm, 18-55mm lens. Manfrotto Tripod, reflector gold/silver.

Feedback

Shoot on a cloudy day which creates soft natural light. Use a reflector to bounce light back on the subjects face which reduces shadows and softens the look.
