Location
I was out dining with a friend on the shores of Lake Victoria when these Rwandan dancers made an appearance. I just loved their energy and passion for dancing and because I don't go many places without my camera captured this chap and his emotions. I am a self taught photographer and love capturing life and the emotions that go with it.Time
This was around 5:30pm as the sun was going down...my favourite time of the day.Lighting
I really don't adjust much on my camera as am still learning and all is quite technical to me. I do however use the early morning and late afternoon light for most of my shots. I then adjust with filters/colours to bring out the best in the image.Equipment
I normally use either my Nikon D3100 or my Nikon Coolpix S9700 but this time I had to use my iPhone7 as the camera battery was exhausted.Inspiration
People and culture inspire me and I love capturing the diversity of their customs and day to day living...especially here in Africa. I just wanted to capture all the emotion this dancer was lost in...complete joy and happiness...pretty much the same way I feel about photography.Editing
Yes I do but just very basic adjusting of light/dark and enhancing colour. I really don't have the know how yet to process further. In my camera bag
My Nikon Coolpix, Nikon D3100 and my iPhone 7. I also carry a Sigma Lens (Macro) DG 70-300 but find my AF-S Nikkor 18-55 takes better quality photos. I really would love to upgrade one dayFeedback
Put yourself in the moment...feel the moment, follow the subject and just click...you'll take many shots but you'll get the right one. Photography is about being patient and making sure the light is in your favour. For fast moving subjects you can also use your 'action' mode and put it on 'multi shot'...try it and see what works best for you.
