Behind The Lens

Location

I shot a series of photos from my backyard, the first couple were of the full moon in clear view. I was taking a Tucson Parks and Rec class to learn how to use my new camera.

Time

Our homework was to do some night shooting, using a tripod at different settings. I had to set up and shoot quickly because the clouds were moving in during our monsoon season.

Lighting

Patience is a must! I continued shooting as the clouds moved across the sky, and I shot more as the moon peeked out from behind the clouds. I am so glad to be able to shoot at all times, day and night, with my new camera without having to use the flash.

Equipment

My camera is the Canon EOS Rebel T6i. The lens is an EFS 18-55 mm. I used a cable release and my tripod to get as clear a picture as possible.

Inspiration

I love taking pictures of the clouds, the sun and the moon at all times, day and night. I love looking up and shooting our Arizona colorful skies. long ago I spent a summer in Prescott, which has beautiful forests and cooler temperatures! But I truly missed the views of stars, sunsets, and mountains of Tucson! They never disappoint!

Editing

No, this is the original photo.

In my camera bag

I don’t carry much in my small bag. I carry my camera, the Canon EOS Rebel T6i; 2 lens- an EFS 18-55 mm and a zoom Len EF 75-300 mm. I also carry a cable release, cleaning supplies and extra memory (scan disks).

Feedback

As a beginner, I think shooting more photos than I think I need is important. It allows me to get those lucky shots more often, learn from my failures, and try different ISO, Aperature, and f/stop settings. Having a digital camera give me more freedom to be more selective in which photos I keep and use. I am thankful for the advice my photography teacher shared with his class-shoot in RAW, save in Tiff, and when sharing online, save as jpeg. He also suggested keeping all our photos in an organized portable hard drive before deleting photos from your camera’s memory card. I always ran out of room on my memory card before, and had to hurry and delete bad pictures so I could shoot more pictures!.
