Stronghold

As you know I‘m in love with storms and lightning, but the Aurora is something I would consider even more beautiful. I always tell people to go and see them in person, it will be the best thing they ever saw and the most beautiful thing they will ever experience in their life. This night started nice with a strong KP2 but I kept my friends a bit on the ground and told them that it should become much better at one point. They did not bother to believe me until we arrived at this picturesque spot at the shore of the Arctic Ocean and the sky turned into an inferno of green, purple and white. You should have seen their faces. For a moment everyone was speechless and stared up into the raging flames above our heads, right before screaming in awe. It was so beautiful that I almost cried, the most spectacular thing I have ever seen and from this moment on I knew again that I am not lying to people when telling then about the stunning beauty of the northern lights. After almost becoming desperate in the rain, Norway did it and twisted the feelings about this trip 180 degrees as it left us shocked with the KP6 display we were lucky enough to see. Despite the forecasted low activity it worked out and gave us the show of our life. What you see here is the moment after the sky burst to flames, I couldn‘t help but leave the camera off and stare into the sky while feelings overwhelmed me, before shouting the probably loudest „YES“ I ever shouted into space. I stay with my opinion, everyone should experience it themselves, because pictures are no comparison to the experience of seeing this divine fire in person. Sometimes even I just sit back and enjoy nature‘s show because the most precious moments are not worth to shoot but worth to experience with your own eyes and not through the camera‘s shutter.
