Location
I live in outback Queensland. I was taking a dozer driver out to his rig After dropping the dozer driver off I noticed 4 Kites flying around a dam in an adjacent paddock. They were quite high up but figured I'd have a go capturing them. I climbed through a fence and walked 200 metres or so towards the dam, stopping periodically to snap a shot. I hovered around the dam for about an hour or so and took 15 to 20 pictures. This was one of my favourites from that shoot. I selected 5 as worth displaying.Time
To be honest I can't remember. I'm trying to find the originals so I can hit up the exif data. At a guess I'd say about 10:00.Lighting
Bright sunny day. Helped a lot. As these were hand-held I needed as much speed as I could get. I usually shoot a bracket of 3 frames adjusting the amount of bracket depending how the subject is lit. In this case it would have been 0.5 stops. Heavily backlit subjects I can bracket as much as 3 full stops.Equipment
Nikon D5500 with 55-300mm zoom with original lens hood. I had no tripod so these were all hand held at 300mm.Inspiration

Just some basic cropping. In my camera bag
If I take my backpack, which I did not this day. I would have 2 Nikon D5500's, 1 with an 18-55 and the other with the 55-300. Cleaning gear. Cokin Filters. A laptop. Extension tubes. Extra battery. Small tripod. Intervalometer.Feedback
