Location
this photo was taken on my nieces farm in Bumpus Mills, TN...It was early fall, these little guys (Buckeye Butterfly) hardly ever let you get close to them..Time
Best I can remember, it was in the evening, when I captured this.Lighting
I use aperture settings, a lot, I usually cut back the natural light a bit, as it brings out colors much better.Equipment
I have a Canon PowerShot SX130 DSL 21.1 mega pixel and a small tripod I carry along, it has gripping legs, so you can easily hang or hook it on stuff to help steady the camera, especially for shots where zoom is needed. However, in this case I got close enough to not need it..I did edit this with Photoshop, because this little fella wouldn't let me get too close. I strive not to use a flash as they seem to wash out colors.Inspiration
I find critters like this, and the opportunity to get close to them as a blessing from Almighty God...I like to walk around with my camera, looking and waiting for something interesting, such as this, to happen by.Editing
I used Photoshop to adjust the overall size, I was happy with the lighting, color hue and saturation and didn't adjust them.In my camera bag
just the camera, small tripod and extra batteriesFeedback
just hit the woods or an open field, walk slowly, quietly, so you don't startle anything. Stand or just sit still a lot, while constantly scanning your surroundings thoroughly, looking for usual movement or an object to grab your attention.
