Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Outback Australia near Ayres Rock and the Olgas. The lightning strike is where you can see the Olgas during the day.

Time

This was taken on sunset. A huge storm blew in as we were going to do some sunset photos and it was worth hanging around for. You can just see glimpses of the sunset on the horizon.

Lighting

I didn’t want to light the foreground as I felt this would distract from the main event so went with getting the lightning as the star of the shot.

Equipment

This photo was taken in my canon 7d mark ii with a samyang 14mm wide angle lenses. It is a single shot 30 second exposure.

Inspiration

I love storms and we don’t get good storms where we live. The week we stayed here we had incredible storms every night.

Editing

no processing done on this image as I didn’t have any processing programs at the time.

In my camera bag

The first thing I always check I have in my bag is a spare battery, then the camera body, my lenses depending on what we are doing, cleaning cloth, remote trigger, water and lollies. You just never know when you might need a little sugar hit.

Feedback

Keep trying. Play around with you settings. Do a little research first to see what other people have used in similar circumstances and have fun. Always shoot from a safe distance and never put yourself in danger.
