60009 Union of South Africa is LNER Class A4 steam locomotive built in Doncaster in 1937. Pictured at Didcot Heritage Railway in 2017, she is one of six of the surviving iconic Gresley A4 locos. Originally called Osprey, she was renamed after the then newly formed Union of South Africa. The springbok plaque was donated in 1954 by a Bloemfontein newspaper proprietor.
