Whilst travelling in East Africa we came across an Elephant that had his tusks removed, yes it was poachers , they had not completed the kill and the Elephant managed to escape only to die a sad and lonely death, The rangers found the Elephant and removed the Tusks to prevent the poachers from claiming them.
the live Elephant was trying to get it on its feet by nudging it , it was one of the sadist things I have witnessed in all my travels.
