I grow staghorn ferns in my yard. One day I was checking the ferns for bird damage and saw this fellow hiding in the leaves. I ran into the house to get my camera and hoped he was still there when I got back. As I was getting closer to him he looked like he wanted to attack the camera so I took my shots and left him where I found him.Time
I took this shot late in the afternoon with a flash. My yard has a lot of shade so late afternoon shots need a flash.I used an OlymouLighting
I try to use natural light as much as I can if I use a flash. I try to check for shadows that show or the flash reflecting back at me.Equipment
I used an Olympus OMD/EM 5 with an adapter so I can use my old manual focus 35mm lenses. This shot was taken with a 50mm manual focus and a flash.Inspiration
I liked the way he was standing his ground and not backing down.Editing
The only post processing I did was to crop it a little. In my camera bag
In my bag I have my OMD, adaptor for the older 35mm lenses , flash , extra SD cards ,extra battery with charger ,small tripod ,and about 3 or 4 different lenses, and a worm release.Feedback
Take your time and work with the subject don't try to rush and look at it from different angles. You just might get a better shot.
