Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Edinburgh along the Royal Mile (I think!) I went every year for about 3 years and made sure to go to the spot that these owls were each time, mostly to photograph them and put a donation in the pot for the charity that cares for them

Time

I’m sure this was around lunch time on a gloomy day so the sun didn’t create any harsh lighting thankfully!

Lighting

I didn’t have to think too much about the lighting as it was a relatively open space without any harsh sunlight

Equipment

I’m still learning, complete amateur when I took this and was getting used to shooting in manual. I can’t remember when lens was used on my Nikon

Inspiration

I’ve always loved owls, I took this one for me

Editing

I took this so long ago I can’t really remember if I did anything with it!

In my camera bag

At this point I didn’t really have any equipment, so then it was nothing but me and my camera

Feedback

Once you stop trying to get the birds attention you end up with the best shots. When you want their attention you just get the back of their head, just be patient
