This scene was taken just north of Old Faithful in Yellowstone Park. There was quite a crowd gathered to watch the buffalo crossing the road down to the Firehole River. This bull buffalo was escorting a cow and her calf, when I noticed that she was limping severely. The bull was very protective of her, and kept issuing loud grunts and calls, as if to say to the crowd, "keep your distance". I hope the cow and her calf make it through the severe winter ahead. Since wolves roam the park, they will be seeking weakened animals for prey - so I hope that whatever is causing her to limp will resolve itself. (Note: the buffalo are covered with a white dust from the volcanic soil they've rolled in).
