Behind The Lens
Location
On a family holiday in Strudengau in Austria, I took photo tours in the area. A dream destination was Melk Abbey, which towers over the Danube. There, a staircase was important to me from research, because I love architecture photography. After finding the stairs in the spacious area, it was difficult to photograph them without the one thousand tourists who had to walk them on their tour.Time
morningLighting
The lighting is just the on-site lighting, which penetrates through the doors and windows in the stairwell.Equipment
My equipment consists of a Canon 7d and different fast lenses. a Tokina (11-16, 2.8), which was the best choice for achieving high imaging performance in naturally lit stairwells or diffused lighting conditions. Furthermore, I own a Sigma 17-70 c and a Tamron Sp 70-200, 2.8.Inspiration
The answer: My love of architecture. Frank Seltmann woke these up and now I search in vacations or leisure times next to my profession as a musician on staircases abandoned places, modern buildings, industrial companies ... special places. This stairwell on melk was known to me from the photo research and now wanted to be imposed only what happened in summer 2016.Editing
Post-processing is unfortunately indispensable with Canon, since the performance of the camera does not make an image directly from the memory possible. Maybe you can work together with the base ... :-) PSE and NIK are the editing programs and of course the dynamics are enhanced, the sharpness, many small steps, which are tailored specifically to photographer, camera and personal taste. a learning processIn my camera bag
Mostly my photo bag is filled with everything I've got, never will I make the mistake again and annoy me about little things, which are missing then, just because you wanted to save weight. Batteries, cleaning accessories, flash accessories (yongnuo is great), flashlight, headlamp, lenses, tripod, spare batteries (charged ;-)), spare memory card, various filters (screw filter, attachment filter)Feedback
Like any photo genre, you need an eye, have it right, or have to learn it. Photo research helps immensely, or even better the connection with professionals, as in this case Frank Seltmann. You can teach yourself a lot, but having a like-minded person around you and going hunting together is sensational. I live learning by doing. Many thanks to Frank, not only for tips or the countless invitations to take pictures, but also for the acquaintance of stair photography, which is really in its infancy at viewbug. Please do not forget to call your own high-intensity lenses and deal with editing, because in the data rather details are stored, but only come close to the original, if you work out them. Greetings and a lot of joy
