I felt my arms burning, my feet burning, my tripod feet melted, I had plastic inside my camera bag, so not even in direct contact which melted. The heat wave smacks you in the face if you are also downwind. As if standing behind a jet engine blast. It's the rate of sudden increase in heat which shocks you into realising you need to back off.
