Location
This photo was taken in Serra da Estrela - Portugal. This mountain is very near from my home and I go often for a walk there with the family. Of course, my camera always comes with me. And it was on one of these walks while the children played in that cloak of leaves that I took to photograph. And this was one of the images of the day that captivated me most.Time
This photograph can impress me by its simplicity both in the capture and in the result achieved. This is a clear example of the breaking of the golden rules for photographing. I did not have much preparation time because I had kids running and always asking for attention. It was also taken in the early afternoon and it was very cold which was not making me very comfortable. But I think I can say that it is in these unusual moments that sometimes the best surprises come up.This was taken on November 15, 2015 at 3pm.Lighting
I wanted the image to convey all the details I could see there at that moment. The shimmering and softness of the leaves, the roughness of the trunks, the entanglement of logs. In short, to transport the spectators to a scenario that would send them to a magical place of their childhood.Equipment
This image was taken with a Nikon D3000, with an 18-55 lens. No further equipment was used.Inspiration
This place caught me by surprise. We were exploring the forest and suddenly there was this cluster of chestnut trees that caught our attention because of its magical atmosphere. The mantle of leaves on the ground, the details on the tree trunks, the colors and reflections that light created on all the elements. We all wanted to stop and enjoy the energy of that place where children could be children and adults too.Editing
Yes, this image has been edited. I had to lighten a bit so that it was possible to see better the small details of the image. In my camera bag
In my bag I usually carry my Nikon D5600, lenses: Nikon 18-55 mm, 55-200 mm. A tripod and after a few adventures I carry also an extra battery and extra SD cards.Feedback
When a location appeals to your emotions, do your best to pass those feelings to the image. It may seem a bit complicated but I believe it is in simplicity that we achieve a stronger dialogue with the viewer.
