The photo was taken right outside my apartment, I was a newbie in photography field and was just learning the basics. I don't know how I was able to capture this shot which is one of my favourite till today. This photograph is very close to my heart.Time
I remember talking to my friend on call around 2 in the afternoon and just went outside my apartment to get a proper signal where I saw a butterfly laying egg on my stairs and it was damn beautiful so I decided to capture this creature anyhow and didn't wanted to miss a sec of an opportunity, After trying almost 40- 50 shots as I was a newbie, I was able to successfully capture this perfect shot on 31 August 2012 around 4:30 pm.Lighting
I had just started photography therefore, I didn’t had anything else but my camera. Plus inspite of not having enough light source inside my building lobby, It was challenging to capture the vibrant colors on its body and wings. With continues trials and error I still couldn’t figure out a natural light source nearby, So I had to use my mobile phone flashlight but the light was so harsh that I finally used a plain white paper to diffuse the harsh light and this is how I end up using light as an essential part for this shot.Equipment
This photograph was shot on a Sony NEX-5K mirrorless camera, With an 18-55mm f/5.6 lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I was always a nature and wildlife lover, I respect and praise the beauty of our earth and it's creatures. The moment I saw this beautiful insect, I wanted to capture the shot for it's uncanny beauty and colours which I could rarely see in a urban city. I don't know why but somehow I felt happy to see the final photograph and wanted to share that happiness to everybody else.Editing
No, I Have not post processed this photograph because I don’t want to ruin the natural vibe of this beautiful shot. PS: also I don't have any post processing skill, I only know about adjusting brightness in pictures ????In my camera bag
I only have my Sony NEX-5k mirrorless camera with 18-55mm lens and a tripod in my collection or bag, nothing else.Feedback
My only advice to others is that to have patience and not to lose hope easily if they also want to capture such kind of shot. Photography needs time and one should not hurry rather wait enough and don't stop trying. You will definitely get a picture that can make you happy as this picture made me. Patience is the only thing what you need to get a perfect shot.
