Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Singapore Zoo whikebhaving brrakfast with the Orangatans

Time

It was early morning and the orangatans were brought into the breakfast area to interact with the tourists

Lighting

The early morning sunlight was just starting to filter through the trees and as you can see made for perfect backlighting for this image

Equipment

I had my Canon 70d with my 80- 300 zoom lens attached. The natural lighting was perfect. I was lucky enough to have a post nearby that I could use to steady the lens to avoid “shake”

Inspiration

I am an amateur and just love wildlife photography so am always on the lookout for a nice shot. The irangatans had been having their photos taken for sometime and I guess as it is something they do each morning it has become “quite routine” for them and I think the look on this youngsters face says it all.

Editing

Only some cropping - I was happy with the original shot

In my camera bag

I normally have my Canon 70d, 18-135 ml, wide angle and my zoom lens. If intending to be indoors or at night will add my external flash and remote trigger.

Feedback

For me when taking wildlife shots, it’s all about observing your subject - and being patient and ready for opportunity when it knocks. I am a novice myself and am always learning through my experiences and that “ shot” I almost got!
