Location
I took this photo when I was roaming around the Walled City of the Philippines - The Intramuros. It was a very tiring day of my street photography hobby, but it all disappeared when I met this beautiful, kind, stray dog. I named him Bulak (Tagalog for Cotton) by the way.Time
I took this photo between 10am to 11am (Philippine Standard Time GMT+8), it was a very cloudy day indeed.Lighting
Shooting street photos is very hard, especially if the light was very harsh. I took a breathe and I waited for several minutes and gave all my patience till the clouds cover and diffuse the harsh lighting coming from the sun. Thankfully, the dog was standing still and did not move.Equipment
i used my entry level camera, the Nikon D3300, and a 50mm lens to capture this wonderful dog.Inspiration
I really love dogs since I was a child, I had 2 dogs at home and seeing a stray dogs makes me really sad, realizing that I cannot take him home even if I have enough resources to take care of him. Bulak is a very gentle creature when I first saw him, I shared my biscuit with him after I took the photo, I spend a little time with him also before I left him alone again.Editing
I do post processing on the colors to enhance the mood of the photo, I want it to be expressive as possible as I match the sadness on the smile of Bulak. In my camera bag
I always keep my entry level camera and my holy trinity of lenses: 18:55mm kitlens, 50mm f1.8, 70-300mm Tamron Lenses.Feedback
Take everything what you want to capture, don't hesitate to take photos of your surroundings. Every living things in our world has a story, Bulak is one of it who shows a true Filipino spirit - He smiles even if he is facing the world of abandonment.
