Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken during an evening stroll at the Louisville, KY Big 4 waterfront bridge.

Time

4 to 6 PM on a weekday.

Lighting

If you look closely, the sun is setting over the two western bridges, the Kennedy/Lincoln and the Railroad bridges. Late spring the weather conditions produce spectacular sunsets, this is one of many that caught the eye of the photographer.

Equipment

Nikon D7100 with natural light settings (no flash needed).

Inspiration

Providence...there's are some shots that you are in the right place and time. This was one of those events.

Editing

No post processing was used on this picture. One of the things my instructors, peers, friends, and teachers try to emphasize is if you take time to adjust your settings prior to the shot, the less you will need to take afterwards.

In my camera bag

At a minimum, a D7100 or D300 camera(s). Nikor AF-S 70-300mm 1:4 and Nikor AF-S 18-200mm 1.3-5.6 lenses; a spare battery(s); SD and Compact flash cards.

Feedback

Always have a camera accessible (e.g.in you car or in your locker at the job, etc.) for those unexpected surprise events. Manual focus is awesome, but in crunch time constraints, don't feel like a failure to use autofocus. I'm visually challenged and depending on the surroundings use it when needed. The whole point is to catch the event, concept or memory that you desire to share with others or preserve for yourself.
