Born into poverty.
I was donating educational supplies with a few friends to the less fortunate in Region 6, Berbice, of Guyana, South America when I saw this pretty young girl on her grandfather's shoulder looking directly at me.
The texture, leather like skin on her grandfather's back gives a glimpse of the kind of hard work that he does on a daily basis just to provide food at the end of the day for his family. He is a chicken farmer.
I immediately pulled out my phone and took a portrait pic of her flawless face.
Their home was burnt to the ground and they lost everything.
Money doesn't buy happiness nor does it make us beautiful.
This family was all smiles even after losing everything, because they were all together as One.
I call this "The Face of Innocence" as she has no idea what is going on and what can be.
Her life awaits. Perhaps one day she will be the person to lead her family out of poverty.
