The original medieval castle, built at the end of the XIIIth century, remains the symbol of the city Mayen - it is built above the market place in the middle of the city. Its location is in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany - the castle has been rebuilt several times since its first destruction in 1689 and it is, of course, the source of a legend about Siegfried & Genevieve of Brabant. This photo does not do it justice as there is another higher round tower on the right hand side but, I thought, the colors would make up for it...
