This is Marksburg, one of the many medieval castles along the Rhine. It dates back to the 1200's and remains mostly in its original construction as this fortress, used for protection of the town Brauchbach below, was never raided. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Photo taken in the morning, hand held, with zoom, from across the Middle Rhine river.
