Location
This photo was taken while at the Junior Duck Stamp art contest in Sonoma, California. I had my camera with me, intending to take photos of some of the artwork being judged at the contest. I decided to go outside for a break and there was this magnificent barn owl in the care of a handler. I walked over to the handler and asked to take couple of photos. I was impressed by the owl's presence, and particularly the detail of the feathers covering its face.Time
Late morning.Lighting
It was mid morning and natural light was pretty good.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon T2i in natural light, no flash! (I would not recommend using a flash when photographing an owl due to the sensitivity of their eyes. The flash may also spook the bird.Inspiration
I was impressed by the owl's presence, and was particularly intrigued by the detail of the feathers covering its face.Editing
Basic processing for light, color and sharpness with Lightroom. In my camera bag
On this particular day, I only had my camera and kit lens.Feedback
Only advice I can offer is when out and about, be prepared for photo opportunities to happen unexpectedly. Also, be friendly and engage with others.
