A tarantula hawk wasp is a large wasp (up to 2 inches long!) that is parasitical on tarantulas. The female stings the tarantula to paralyze it, drags it to a burrow, and lays an egg on its abdomen. When the larva hatches, it starts feeding on the spider, eating the non-vital parts first to keep it alive for as long as possible.
