A few days ago, I had the privilege to spend some time in a bird hide in Belgium. I observed several species such as a common snipe (Gallinago gallinago). This is a small & stocky wader. The breeding habitat is marshes, tundra and wet meadows throughout northern Europe and northern Asia. It is migratory, with European birds wintering in southern and western Europe.
