Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Skagway, Alaska, on my trip across Canada.

Time

I have no idea what time it was... I get way too distracted taking photos, enjoying myself, and crouching down observing plants and other mysterious things.

Lighting

I used natural Alaskan lighting. The sun shone through the thin clouds quite nicely.

Equipment

I shot this with my favorite (and only) camera, a Canon A2500, which has gone through a lot of adventuring, exploring, and button clicking with me. I didn't use anything else, and I really don't care for flash. I don't ever use flash or any other lighting besides natural lighting to take my photos.

Inspiration

Nothing really. I was just walking around and spotted these beautiful flowers - right in front of the fire station sign, sitting there, waiting to be photographed - so I ran over and took some pictures.

Editing

Nope! I didn't use any post-processing.

In my camera bag

I don't have a fancy camera bag with all the photo equipment that you could ever dream of... I carry my camera in my hand (it's small), always by my side. My camera is like a very good friend to me.

Feedback

I'm not the best for advice, but when I take most of my photos, I don't like to place my subject in the middle of the photo. I like to have my subject over to one side. When I take macro shots, I don't even use a macro lens. If you don't have a fancy macro camera, like me, you can hold your camera close up to the object, but not so close it is blurry. This is really hard, since if your hand shakes, your photo is blurry. Almost all of the time I spent at least a few minutes trying to get one shot, and it's so worth it! So, my advice is to try, try again, and it's ok if you make mistakes. Also, keep up the awesome photography! (It's ok if my advice didn't really help. I'm not the best at explaining how I do things!) :)
