Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken inside the headquarters of Croatian Journalist association while l was renewing my membership. l saw a mix of natural sunlight and artificial yellow light.

Time

l took the photo in the morning when there weren't many people walking through hallways of the building, it was spring of 2015 at exactly 09:30 AM.

Lighting

I was intrigued by the mix of the natural light coming through roof windows and the artificial yellow lighting from surrounding hallway.

Equipment

This was shot on my little baby Lumix LX 7, with 10 part of sec, 20 mm lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

l usually carry at least one camera on me at all times, so I can capture moments from real life that I consider worth remembering and sharing with the rest of the world.

Editing

Because l always take photos in RAW format it is necessary to process them. Thankfully we have Adobe Photoshop for easier post- production compar ed to the old analog technology.

In my camera bag

Aside from smaller cameras like Panasonic LX7 or LX3, Canon G7, which I usually carry in my pocket, I use DSLR cameras: EOS 1D, Mark lV, Mark lll and Mark ll N, EOS 5, Mark ll with set of all Canon zoom lenses (last versions of 16-35mm 2,8, 24-70 mm 2,8, 70-200 mm 2,8) and fix lenses (24 mm, 1,4, 300 mm 2,8 and 400 mm 2,8) for my professional assignments.

Feedback

For this type of architectural photography, it's crucial to be patient, especially if without a tripod, and to be very concentrated to achieve long exposure which allows aperture to be small enough for large depth of field, increases contrast and opens more details in the frame. If you are using a compact camera for this kind of photography it's necessary to use manual mode.
